Austenitic

Contain at least 16% chromium, and 6% nickel. The addition of nickel allows austenitic stainless steel to be used at low temperatures without being brittle (low temperature hard and brittle). 

Eg. 301 stainless steel, 304 & 304L stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, etc.

301 stainless steel, with great strength and ductility,  used in automotive parts.

304 stainless steel, the most widely use stainless steel, corrosion resistance, used in constructions, food processing, etc.

316 stainless steel, added with molybdenum, resistance to pitting, used in constructions parts, ships, hot water system, etc. 

Martensitic

Main alloying element is chromium, these alloys can be hardened by heat treatment, are magnetic and have moderate corrosion resistance.
