What is Precision Metal Stamping

Precision metal stamping is a high-volume metalworking process that uses stamping tools to create sheet metal parts by embossing the material into the desired shape. This is done according to a pattern where each part is removed from the motherboard after stamping.

What are the precision metal stamping processes

It can be divided according to common processes: punching and cutting edges, pressing burrs, punching convexity, drawing teeth, bending, riveting studs, etc. all contain common precision hardware stamping processes, and the execution of each product to the ground requires more or less relevant technical support to ensure its quality and output. The richer the process technology accumulation, the shorter the production time of a single product and indirectly shorten the delivery cycle.

Trimming & Punching

Excess parts of the material are removed according to the product design needs to get the required size and shape.

Convexity: The surface morphological features formed by extrusion and drawing on the plate.

Drawing teeth

Extraction of teeth: This is the processing process in which, based on the original pre-punched bottom hole, the material around the pre-punched bottom hole is evenly flanged through the strong extrusion of the extraction punch, thus forming the required tapping hole diameter and extraction height.

Riveted studs

Pressed into the product material, thus forming a solid combination of the body and the stud processing.

The hardness of the stud body should be greater than the hardness of the product material.

Punching salad

Playing salad: refers to the original punching edge of the plate, after salad punching bevel extrusion to form a uniform hole edge bevel processing technology.

Punching bridge

Hitting bridge: It refers to the processing process of cutting the surface of the material on both sides and forming a projecting material surface bridge-type feature by extruding and pulling the material.

Word mold & press line

Word mold & press line refers to the module that has formed the font & line through the extrusion of the product, the word shape & line shape extrusion printed on the surface of the product processing technology.

Reflexive flattening (pushing flat)

Refers to the material through bending and flattening, thus forming the material 180-degree bending folded into a double material forming process.

In the initial processing stage, customers look for processing strength. Production equipment is the basic condition that affects this point; most of the processes are made in the machine to complete, the degree of mechanical automation is getting higher and higher, where punching and cutting are done on the die of the punching machine, the control of the precision and appearance treatment and other related process production rely on the equipment, for the time being, imported equipment to produce punching parts with higher precision and better quality, so pay attention to the examination of the machine when looking for manufacturers.

In the secondary processing stage, the precision hardware stamping process is more important because most of the welding, riveting, tapping, and other processes require manual participation, especially manual fine welding, with high requirements for the technical experience; a slight shortage will cause leakage of virtual welding and other phenomena; riveting rivets and punching parts should be perpendicular to each other, or easily distorted, resulting in loose parts; tapping requires patience and meticulous, low tolerance for error, studs The pattern is not in line with the stack of nails will cause the problem of inferior products.

Features of precision metal stamping and molding process

1.Can produce deformation at room temperature without consuming energy through heating. The stamping operation can be realized only through the physical punching of the die, compared with the calcination, without heating materials and equipment, and do not have to worry about the oxidation and burning caused by high temperatures. In contrast to calcination, there is no need to use heating materials and equipment, and there is no need to worry about oxidation and burns caused by high temperature; the dimensional shape is stable, and the cost control is low.

2.Stable quality of stamped parts. A major benefit of the simple process is that the influencing factors are reduced, the interchangeability is better, the production conditions of the process are controllable, the quality supervision is more in place, the risk of defective products is reduced, the return and replacement of parts are simple and easy to operate, and the pre-sales and after-sales service is worry-free.

3.High utilization rate of metal materials. The production can reduce the generation of scrap, improve the utilization rate and reduce the production cost of stamping hardware by diagonal, mixed, sleeve cutting, multi-row, and cross-row material arrangement.

4.Wide application field. The application of the stamping process is large, including for all walks of life; seemingly simple process but can produce products that are difficult to produce by general machining, especially for fine, sharp, and thin products; the hardware stamping process is almost irreplaceable way.

5.High production efficiency and capacity. With sufficient equipment, such as punching machines, robots, welding machines, riveting machines, etc., the production capacity can rapidly increase, and the metal plates can be processed and shaped in large quantities. With the modes of single punching and continuous punching, high-speed stamping, etc., and the fully automated robot production line, it is an order of magnitude faster than the ordinary processing methods.

Precision metal stamping micro-hole processing method

Micro-hole processing is a difficult technology in precision hardware stamping between traditional and micro-fine processing. EDM is a good choice; it can process micro-hole with a minimum diameter of 0.08mm. However, its micro-hole hole wall will leave a recast layer, thus affecting the service life of the micro-hole, making the micro-hole hole wall surface quality deteriorate; laser punching is divided into four categories: different laser punching micro-hole processing method features.

1.direct laser punching

Focusing direct lens punching, hole size, and roundness depend on the size of the laser spot, and roundness, the hole size is not easy to control. Only suitable for smaller holes. Aperture 0.005-0.3mm or so. Perforation speed is fast.

2.Laser cutting and punching

Using XY motion platform to achieve, hole wall finish is poor, poor precision, slow punching speed, can punch large holes, multi-hole.

3.Workpiece rotation punching

The inner wall finish of the hole is better, the roundness is high, and the punching speed is fast, but only a single hole can be punched. Can punch 0.005mm diameter and above. Suitable for round coaxial parts, punching can punch angle holes.

4.Beam rotation punching

The workpiece does not move when punching; the beam rotator controls the size of the hole, the inner wall of the hole is better, high roundness, fast punching speed, the XY motion platform to achieve position positioning, can punch multiple holes. It is the most advanced laser micro-hole processing technology at present.

Laser direct punching and laser cutting punching, laser punching and cutting machine, suitable for micro-hole processing with low precision requirements. This type of equipment combines punching and cutting into one, not only to meet the multiple micro-hole processing but also to meet the laser cutting of various types of thin plates; the use of the range is relative. The disadvantage is that the hole finish and precision are poor, and the hole size is not easy to control. The accuracy is generally between 0.02mm, to 0.01mm. There are certain difficulties.

What are the requirements of the precision metal stamping process

1. precision metal stamping process should adopt a simple and reasonable appearance and combination when planning the structure shape of the parts. It should also try to make the least number of processed appearances and the least processing area.

2. the selection of reasonable mechanical production in the preparation of the blank method can be used directly for profile, casting, forging, stamping and welding, etc. The selection of the blank is related to the detailed technical conditions of production and generally depends on the production batch, material properties, and processing possibilities.

3. To facilitate the progress of stamping deformation and part quality, the material should have great plasticity, a small flexural strength ratio, a large directional coefficient of plate thickness, a small directional coefficient of plate plane, and a small ratio of yield strength to modulus of elasticity of the material. The separation process does not require the material to have good plasticity but has certain plasticity the material.

4.The rules appropriate production accuracy and appearance roughness. The cost of hardware stamping parts will increase with the progress of precision, especially in the case of higher precision; this increase is extremely obvious. Therefore, high precision should not be sought when there is no sufficient basis. Similarly, the external roughness of hardware stamping parts should also be made according to the actual needs of the mating appearance to make appropriate rules.

precision metal stamping processing applies to products in various fields; following the development of science and technology, the process of precision hardware stamping processing is also improving, and the process requirements for precision hardware stamping processing are also progressing.
