Advantages of Rockwell hardness:

Rockwell hardness tester is easy to operate, has high test efficiency, and is very suitable for industrial production of batch testing. The load force is small, and the indentation size is smaller than that of Brinell hardness, so Rockwell hardness is more suitable for the test of the thin strip and thin wall tube. Different Rockwell hardness scales have different indenter and total test forces, resulting in a wide range of Rockwell hardness values. Rockwell hardness test has the initial test force, so the slight unevenness of the sample surface has little influence on the test value.

Advantages of Vickers hardness tester:

The indentation of the Vickers hardness test is square, the light profile is clear, and the diagonal measurement is accurate. Therefore, the Vickers hardness test is the most accurate hardness test method in common use, and its repeatability is also good, which is superior to the Brinell hardness tester.

The Vickers hardness test has a wide range of measurements. It can measure almost all metal materials used in industry today, from very soft materials (a few Vickers hardness units) to very hard materials (3000 Vickers hardness units).

The great advantage of the Vickers hardness test is that its hardness value has nothing to do with the size of the test force. As long as the material with uniform hardness, the test force can be chosen arbitrarily, and its hardness value is unchanged. This is equivalent to having a uniform scale over a wide range of hardness. This is superior to the Rockwell hardness test.

The Vickers hardness test and Brinell hardness test results will get similar hardness values in the range of medium and low hardness values on the same uniform material.

Vickers hardness test can be as small as 10gF; the indentation is very small, especially suitable for testing small thin materials.

Advantages of Brinell hardness tester:

The advantage of the Brinell hardness test is that its hardness is representative.
